the made in japan stigma is largely a thing of the past. i tend to question overpriced made in the usa instruments.

MIJ... Seems like these days "made in Japan" is a good thing.

My Dan Armstrong re-issues are both made in Japan, the Lucite bass is better than the basswood model but they were different price points too.

I don't doubt the quality but I also think the MSRP on those is silly high. I feel the same way about the "Pearly Gates" Gibson too... I don't care where it's made.

There's no longer a MIJ stigma, hasn't been for years, but even the top notch models aren't valued in the used and vintage market like US instruments. That's just the way it is.

I think this one is way below usual retail, so it's a good price from that standpoint. Still, Dr. Aquafresh is right, the regular price is way too high.

Thanks for your replies guys. They usually are way overpriced but this one ain't.
Wow~ MSRP is about 38 hun & the usual price for a new one even righty is 22 to 27 hun.
It's chambered so it's nice an' light, has a thin neck which makes it easy to play & it's simultaneously futuristic & retro.
It's almost half price, sexy as hell & LEFTY!
Not only that but Billy F. Gibbons is playing these on tour cuz the original Bo Diddley gave him is too rare to risk losing.
Furthermore, they're not bein' made anymore, at least not lefty.
I remember a few years back when Southpaw Guitars put together an order of 20 or 25 for Gretsch & they were about 24 or 25 hun apiece & we were told it'd be a One Shot Deal.
I'll bet those were the only ones ever made & this is one of 'em, so it'll go up in value cuz they're so RARE.

Think I'm gonna grab it like a rabbit!

Look at that toggle! mmmm-hmmmmmmmm

Gotta have it! Made the seller an offer. We'll see if he takes it...

Looks like no lefty Billy Bo for me just yet but may get a Red Bear guitar amp.
They were made in Russia for awhile for The Gibson Guitar Company.
Good reviews for 'em at harmonycentral.

May get the black SG tooo
