More vintage Gretsch

When i searched for Committee bass images, I found this and similar pictures...very Guild B-301 looking.



But there's nothing wrong with the one shown a couple of posts ago - it just looks rather Precision-ish.

I have to smile at that. The TK300 is one of the oddest looking ducks out there. I've played a couple, and I found the pickup nasty, unpleasant and harsh. All a matter of taste, of course.

That's why they make so many different basses!

I had one of the new Hagstrom HB-4 models. Liked the look and feel, but all six of the pickup settings (rotary knob twistem) sounded metallic to me. I sold it and moved on.

Those Hagstroms need a pickup transplant! I reckon the pickups that came stock are fairly generic guitar pickups.

Could be; the HB-4 uses rail pickups, but I have no clue who makes them.

The Hagstrom website describes them as: 2 x Dyna Rail 1025HB/N Alnico 5.

To which I would respond: "Mmmmmmmm....kay. Whatever."

I don't remember any identifying marks on the pickups I removed. I figured they were Artec or similar. I tried to use them in another bass, but they were too microphonic to be much use.
