From what I'm reading they're performing as themselves, not as the characters. Well, good for them. Some of their tunes are brilliant parodies that hold up as good songs anyway like Neil Innes' tunes for the Rutles.

The Rutless songs were so close to real Beatles songs, that they lost a case. If you cover a Ruttles song, you have to state 'Lennon/McCartney' underneath it. Strange but true...
