I have been dragging my feet on this but next week I am taking this to work and running it through the thickness planer  :) then I can start routing the neck pocket, pickup cavities and control cavity. I am also sending two cover to SD for Thunderbird guts next week.

I made templates for the pickup route and the neck route this morn., then I routed for the pickups ! I had hoped to get to the neck route but that will have to wait for another day.

Looking good, bro...  8)

Not knowing a great deal about these beasties, but did any precede JAE's Peter Cook built F*nd*rbirds and Explorerbirds...?

Ken, I think John was the first to do this as a specific solution to his love of the Fender maple necks and the Gibson  Thunderbird pickups. Who knows someone with a busted Tbird may have grafted a Fender neck on to the Thunderbird body before John thought of it But john is widley given credit for the Fenderbird concept.
