Quote from: Granny Gremlin on October 31, 2014, 10:10:12 AM... oh, the B200 has a horn.  Dammit; probably won't do as a replacement for me.  When I originally looked at the pics I thought that was dual ports.

It has an on/off switch. I leave it off, unless I'm using it for keys. Not a fan of horns! Some cabs seem to be designed to need them - Eden/SWR. Even then, I'll dial in just a touch.

Quote from: amptech on November 01, 2014, 04:15:06 AMEVM is my all time favourite 15 speaker for bass. Use it in both Musicman 115RH and a portaflex-like cab.

EVM15L is my fav too. I've had the same one in 5 different cabs since the late 80s. I think it may be "fatigued" as well. I'm also really enjoying the JBL D140s in my '71 Ampeg 2x15. Nice bright highs, but with a deceptively strong, pillowy low end.

Granny Gremlin

Yeah, my EV   (model SP15A - a extended range hifi woofer - has a whizzer cone - modern model not to be confused with the vintage SP15) is in my MM 115RH.  LOVE IT (useful response up to 8k, the 8 and 12" versions are considered fullrange).

No recone kits available (other models will fit, but it will be a different speaker).  Nothing else comes close.

Most of the alt models I am looking at are over $250 each new.the EVM15B is the exception - my recone guy has those coming out his ears so I can get one cheap, but the SP15A is better on both the bottom and top end.

I picked this up used a few months ago. A Reeves 225 with matching sealed 410. I traded my Mesa Prodigy head plus some cash and got a great deal. So glad I did. It sounds phenomenal. Looks pretty sweet too.

That is really sweet looking!  I love the blonde cab look.  Makes me want to build a cab for my amp head.

Holy cow. What kind of power does that Reeves put out?
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

drbassman

Since you dumped a Prodigy as I did, how does the Reeves compare to the Mesa?

Looks great! I like the "what ARE those" vibe. Way cooler than the stock Eden look!

The tan color is really unusual, but a very clean look.  Having a matching wood case for the Mesa head would really put a finishing touch on it.

Actually, I suspect you could make the wood case easily, but it's a matter of where you want to put your time.  I'd think a case that looks like the old Bassman-50 heads would be cool.

I have a Bassman head that looks just like that sitting in the den.  But mine has extensive wear.  The cab that goes to it got stolen many years ago.  I think it's guitarists who are mostly interested in those old Bassman amps now.  There was a really good guitarist who used to own a shop who wanted to buy mine several years ago.  He really insisted, but through the years I've usually kept most of what I've bought.
