Thanks George, I hope you and your family is doing well.

Hmmm...that article offers some good reasons that Jay Turser chose the '54 P as their model to clone.  I've heard many comments that the contouring makes it more comfortable to play than the slabs.

There was a thread not long ago about contour vs. no contour which I found interesting. I'm one of those people who couldn't tell the difference if his life depended on it.

I could, and I prefer no contours. I think I'm in the minority.

Well, I like both contoured and slab basses. The contours never seem to be in the right place for my body:)

the contours only work if you wear your bass like a bow tie.  :P

I think they look more tasteful as a fig leaf.......  :o

I like my slab Telecaster Bass just fine:

Please, Dave, delete the post of Hieronymous. There's no cat on it.

I didn't recognize you without cat, BTW.

To be back on topic: I used to have a RI paisley P and I hated the fact it had the contoured body. Just not that beautiful and not original.

I have heard that the paisley basses are very nice instruments, but I got WAY overdosed on paisley in the 60's.  Couldn't stand to own one, based on the visual aspect.

I just saw a blue paisley one up on EBay listed for something like $800 ....

I bought a very cheap new Paisley P CIJ reissue which was hanging in a shop for ages. It was a beautiful bass and I added the chrome covers. Very nice! But it sounded lifeless. Very dull. I sold it for twice the price I payed for it and I am left with some great pics of me and the bass. Photographers at gigs loved it. My singer and guitar player hated that
