I could have told you as much ... those Dutchies ... qualmless irresponsible  libertarianism and permissiveness unleashed.  :-\

Ah, Jake, Dana let you out once more. How's the new house?

The house is good.  There's lots of work to do, but the bones are good.  We're just exstatic that we were able to afford something downtown that wasn't a condo (middle of a 3 unit row house).

The wedding is in September.

Now that is commitment!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Glad to hear that.

Flash thought: Do you think your relatives would find Mark as a bridesmaid challenging?

Mmmmm....yeah  I bet I could get across the border into Canada!  I'm everybodies darling too! Very popular at any social gathering. I will have to insist on my own bridesmaid dress tho.........I'm afraid Canadian fashion just won't do  ;)

Jake, A very sincere Congratulations to you and your fiancee.

hey Jake, congrats on the house and the upcoming wedding!

Granny Gremlin

Thanks guys.

Mark would be an excellent bridemaid.... if I were the bride, or even not, but Dana isn't doing the bridesmaid thing (much to the chagrin of some of her friends) - it's gonna be a small wedding.

Also, my spelling still sucks.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding and money pit!

I don't live south of the border, John; property values up here are good.  Especially in the downtown core.  We actually live accross the street from a decrepid housing project that will be torn down and replaced with a park by 2010 - ka-ching!

every house can be seen as a money pit.  just wait till you have get a new roof, renovate a bathroom or the kitchen, or whatever.   however, 'money pit' is used as a term of endearment by those of us lucky enough to be homeowners.   at least property values generally do increase, so you've got that going for you.  enjoy it and keep reminding yourself that it's better than paying rent!

Unless you are building a new house. You have no idea what you are getting into, just like when you found interest in these Gibson basses.

First it starts with a repair here & there, that either leads to unforeseen problems. You have to remodel & repaint EVERYTHING. I have been a home owner a long time. Something always needs to be fixed or updated, if not, I'm sure your wife will clue you in.

Hey guys, funkycarnivore here.  Just wanted to update this thread because DaveW contacted me about it way back when.  Anyway, I still have the Leland bass.  I'm not planning on selling it because Leland is my favourite player of all time.  It also only cost me $500, and I probably won't run into another one for quite some time.  Anyway, my buddies from Looperlative did me a big favour and kept the bass in their booth at NAMM this year.  Lee also happened to be there, and he added a little something to my bass!

Nice! Maybe you'll find some hairs of his beard stuck in those machine heads:)

Hey Jerome, hope you're still doing well.

Cool that you got his signature.

I remember this shot from when you met him a few years ago (apologies for using your bandwidth).
