Just my .02 here, black doesn't look bad with Classic White but chrome is much better!

Uwe just likes to tweek us by pretending he loves the "status quo" of Gibson's bass design department.  He secretly craves chrome and is afraid to offend Herr Juszkiewicz's bass brain trust (oxymoron).

Oh yeah, very nice indeed!  I think the black really only looks at all good on the vintage white TBs, but the chrome sure fits nicely as well!

He must be gone for the weekend, otherwise he would have already responded.

He did put add chrome T-bird pickups to his "Bluebell" (the gunshot EB-0L) so you can't take his protests too seriously.

Whatever sounds best to my ears is what I like, shiny or not.

Uwe was working over the weekend - the financial (or should I say economic?) crisis is flooding work in our department ...


When it was all the rage in the eighties, I thought it stupid to exchange chrome for black hardware, now it's the other way around and I still don't feel any inclination to turn black into chrome. What I generally try to prevent is a mix of the two (hence I stayed with chrome on "Bluebell") and I often do have an issue with gold hardware and feel inclined to change it (though in the end I never do). I think the modern day TB Plus pups would look better if they were really pitch black as opposed to the drab greyish look they have.
