With some delay ...
« on: November 20, 2008, 12:44:26 PM »
... the Nikki Sixx Signature TBird has hit the official Gibson web site:

http://www.gibson.com/en%2Dus/divisions/gibson%20usa/products/bass/thunderbirdnikkisixx/

It blurbs: "The first collaboration between Gibson and Sixx - the Gibson Blackbird -was released almost 10 years ago and enjoyed immense popularity from both players and fans alike."

Define "immense".

I like how in bold print it says rosewood fretboard, but the write up mentions ebony several times. The usual Gibson QC at work I suppose!

I want one of these BAD!!!!

Gibson has finally created the ultimate fretboard wood: "rosebony". In this age of genetic modification anything is possible. Next step will be "maplogany" body and neck wood.

:puke: IF it had dot inlay, a Tbird logo on the guard I MIGHT buy one, I'd even take the black plastic pups if it had chrome hardware. Garish and self promoting. Did I use this before ? :puke:

That is a crappy photo of the top showing the wings vs center. Pretty guitar though.

Define "immense".

Both the buyers are happy.

What's new about the pick ups?

"immense" used in a sentence: "Guitar Center, Mars Music and Musicians Friend gave immense discounts when they closed out the Blackbirds."  ;D

Everything about Motley Crue is immense.  Just goes without saying.

I like the fancy wood (even if it could be foto flame ) more than that black thing they were throwing out the door at Mars Music years ago.

Wow I didn't know that Nikki designed the drawer pull......I mean Opti-grab....speaking of opti is it opti-onal because I don't see it at all. Still I wouldn't mind having one.

Navin Johnson designed the Opti-grab. Nikki and Gibson are just ripping him off. Can fictional characters file patent infringement lawsuits?  ;)

The Blackbird's Opti-grab was supposedly what Nikki used to anchor his little finger. Now the "new" Opti-grab is something he uses to hold the bass while he roams "the monster Crue stage." What?  ???

What's new about the pick ups?

They've been referring to the TB Plus pups as "new design" for a while now, since 2006 I believe. I don't hear much of a difference on the new models, bit bassier/higher output perhaps.
