Not even "Maybe I'm Amazed"?  I didn't much care for his solo stuff early on, but you really can't ignore that song.

His new one is supposed to be really good.  There were a couple songs I didn't know from a recent show in Paris that I liked a whole bunch.  His new band is one of the best.  Brian Ray really fits the sound to a T.

Our newest member leftybass is a fine singing bassist in his own right. Even wearing a suit on a Texas summer afternoon in the upper 90s with no shade.

Of course I would not ignore "Maybe I'm Amazed."  It is one of his best songs and even better than most of his Beatles songs.  However, I think he actually wrote that while he was still in the Beatles.  I'm not positive about that, but I seem to remember reading it somewhere.  I've also heard that his recent stuff is really good, though.

tim bogart as well

Tim Bogart definitely deserves recognition.  Vanilla Fudge was so far ahead of its time, too.

here are a few more that come to mind. boz burell in king crimson, blues legend willie dixon on his upright and peter cetera from chicago.

Chris P.

I'm glad someone mentioned Rick Danko. I think he has one of the greatest voices ever. Listening to It Makes No Difference fro  The Last Waltz give me goosebumps every single fookin' time.

And on bass he's no slough either. No virtuoso shit, but always the right notes and very melodic. Listen to his great fretless Ampeg Scroll Bass parts on Rock of Ages or of course his fretted Gibson Ripper work on The Last Waltz.

And if you're doin' this (you should!!!!) also take a listen to The Weight with the Staples also from The Last Waltz. If the Danko singing part comes on his timing is so unique he almost changes the whole song. I just love the guy.

And a great singer/bass player: Ronnie 'Plonk' Lane of Faces and Small Faces. Go to YouTube for a 72 live version of Macca's Maybe I'm Amazed by The Faces. Ronnie starts the song, Rod the Mod takes over and they do a part together. Great bass sound too!

If I could sing like anyone, it would be James Dewar:

It was great to see Robin Trower recently but James Dewar was greatly missed.

Jack Bruce just did another album with Trower called 7 Moons.
Clips I listened to at amazon sound really goood!!
