Admirable  score, Scott! How do those two muddies sound together and the bridge one on its own? I'd hesitate to go back to a minibucker, frankly. And you do know: You can't undo what you did to your poor EB-4 by now making good with this one here!

Two muddies ? The bass I just bought has a guitar looking humbucker in the bridge spot. I do luv me my mini buckers though !

Nice & broken in.

Did a Google on Jimmy Lea & found out he used a V a lot for recording.

I've been usin' my Epi V a lot for recording too....no HUM.

Hey Scott~ Didja know he put out a solo album in 2007?

The Flying V bit is typical Wikipedia speculation/rubbish. All he had was an Ibanez long scale Flying V which preceded the Gibson short scale 1981 Flying Vs by several years. He must have liked its look and used it on quite a few mimed TV performances, but I doubt whether it ever saw a recording studio from the inside. I have the exact same model and it's not a horrible bass, just docile sounding, but scarcely something you would record with if you had the other instruments Lea had at his hands back then.

And I think his 2007 solo album is actually quite excellent though like a lot of stuff recorded by just one person (he basically played everything on it) it doesn't have the tension that a good band performance has. Slade could have made a great album out of it.

The Ibanez V is the early version with the mudbucker and mini bucker copy pups. By the time the line was introduced to the US they had a P sorta J set up. I agree with some more input the album would have been a excellent Slade album. It is sad they are all still here a reunion tour would be great.

"I am Soooooooooooooooooooo Green. I never got to see Slade."

Really! Finally one thing about Slade I've managed over you Scott! They were probably the loudest show I ever saw too, I was about 10-12 rows back from Dave Hill's side of the stage, he was wearing platform boots with spurs them! My ears rang for several days afterwards............. ;D

Hiwatt should make hearing devices for old and deaf rock musicians. In that case they do something back ánd it's very cool to have a Hiwatt logo on a hearing device. I would weare one!

I've told this before, but Slade were the only band I ever heard that were loud enough to make a member of the audience suffer nosebleed a few seconds into their set. I was standing right beside the guy. They were so loud, it was beyond pain.

In have a friend in the UK holding one of Slades DR201 for me. I had hopped to have it by now but the move and now this makes things pretty tight. He has been very kind to let it sit till I pay it off.

Well it's a player  that's for sure. I got the bass Mon. and it is unplayable. Nine of the frets have groves worn right down to the fingerboard. it will cost anywhere from 175 -300 to fix. The auction description states the "bass plays well". I am going back and forth with the seller about this. He says what he meant by that is that the electronics work.  Big difference in having the electronics work and the bass being playable. On the plus side it is solid no breaks and sounds good the wiring and pots are dodgy but that's no big deal. I'm going to hold his feet to the fire to get him to pony up for the repair or tell him he can take the thing back or we are going to go through PP and ebay to get this sorted out.
