Status Quo live are unbeatable. Their music is primal, folksy and samey, true, but they build a communion with the audience like very few other acts can. I saw them in 1976/77, darn was it memorable and Francis Rossi even adressed me personally from the stage!

That's how I've always heard it pronounced.

Ah yes us Australians are shocking for  bastardizing other languages. I speak schoolboy French and make a concerted effort to get the pronunciation correct. I remember some people in my refresher class just before I went to france in the 90's....

Merci beaucoup and  s'il vous plaĆ®t   translated to: Murky bucket, silver plate.  Therefore Uwe = You...right?   ;)

It's more "Ooohwuh!"

What did Herr Rossi say to me? It's firmly embedded in my memory. I was standing in the front row and it was after their opening song, Junior's Wailing.

Status Quo were only my second rock gig after I had seen Rainbow a few months earlier. Rainbow had been great, but Quo were magic. I was wildly headbangig. To such an ecstatic degree that the people around began to look puzzled. And I noticed that eventually, stopping dead in my tracks. Looked up to the stage and there I met Francis Rossi's friendly gaze and he smiled at me, bowed down a little and said: "You can keep on going son, that's alright!"

I get goosebumps even writing it today!  :-[

Next he'll tell us about the time he was in the front row at an Elvis concert, and Elvis looked at him and said "Thank Uwe, thank Uwe very much."  :)

Chris P.

Uwe showed me the scarf Elvis threw at him.
