These days, I'm a big fan of Canada.

It's spring break , this is the US Customs at the Toronto airport. It would normally be jammed

Pilgrim

That makes me an even BIGGER fan of Canada.

Darrol

Definitely a fan of Canada right now.

morrow

We have always had a strong relationship with the US , that is now gone. At least while Trump is in power.

But there's this question ... why would he even entertain the idea of trying to annex Canada (his excuse for using tariffs) when it's so full of Fentanyl and immigrants?

You should keep in mind that there is NO logical connection between his individual actions, and even less between his statements and the eventual actions.

I always thought Canada as kind of a neat mix of the best aspects and traits of the UK, Scandinavia & the US (+ some France, naturellement!) combined. Ok, so they had rock bands with screechy vocals, strange meters and Ayn Rand lyrics, but why alienate them of all people?

I could never listen to Rush , but I love the band.

(totally kidding) Now, according to Herr Uwe, I must go read Atlas Shrugged four times while listening to "YYZ" on endless repeat for my internet forum decorum violation.

Sadowsky fan/owner, and collector of amps/cabs for no good reason

Alas!, Keith, and the meek shall inherit the earth.

Elon Musk is probably one of those people that never outgrew Atlas Shrugged - I always had a hunch that they must still be hiding somewhere.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs."

Now , I live way off , out on the coast in Nova Scotia. The edge of the planet. No major industry , low population density , no great mineral deposits ... we are not what he's apparently after. I doubt Trump will be sending troops out this way.
Unless he's adding lobsters to his list.
With Trudeau stepping down we have a new Liberal leader , the Conservative candidate is somewhat modelled on the MAGA ideal , I do not want to see that happen here. The new Liberal leader , Carney , is an economist , and seems to realize economic decisions affect people. He seems to have some compassion. I think he'll take the upcoming election. He will stand up to Trump. So I think he's about to become the right guy at the right time.

We'll see soon enough.
