Rob, don't hide his greatest hit!

I always liked the pop/reggae feel of it, it was incredibly catchy.

Here with an Ibanez Musician:

Haha, you're right.

I did put the link to the YouTube video in my post first.
But when I saw Jerney (Bert's wife) and her awkward dance moves in that blue catsuit, I decided not to post it. Didn't want to posthumously embarrass Bert ;-)

I had no idea she was his wife. Bassists do get lucky. What embarrassment? Earth & Fire were generally more prog than pop, they were milking their freak hit in 1980, the ABBAesque uni-colored catsuits and boiler suits she wore were attention-grabbing on TV, she could sing and, yes, I'm sure the late Bert won't mind some heartfelt male co-appreciation, his widow has a nice butt! Nothing wrong with that.

And given that Weekend was a (massive) hit 42 years ago, it looks like Jerney and Bert were a good match. My condolences to her.

RIP Bert Ruiter

Bert Ruiter wasn't on this album, but the second Focus album somehow ended up in my record collection many years ago.  I have no idea where that came from.  Probably from a former band member or maybe from my sister.  However, it is Earth and Fire that I'm much more familiar with, although I don't have any of their albums or CDs.  When you're going through You Tube videos and see Jerney Kaagman, it's hard not to notice.  I just now looked through my record collection, and the Focus album is still there.
