New Bass Day - Coral/Hagstrom Longhorn
« on: February 03, 2022, 11:29:01 AM »
Been a while since I've logged in: I hope everyone is well!

Thought I'd share a photo of my latest: a Coral/Hagstrom Longhorn built by Subway/Fatdawg Guitars in the 1980s. I sent them a photo and they said they could still build a few using NOS Coral Longhorn bodies, but they wouldn't use a Hagstrom neck. Apparently they are pretty rare and valuable.
I think the pickup and knobs are also Hagstom.

I have to deal with the bizarre ground wire, but the bass plays, sounds and looks great!

Very cool indeed.  Love the color and the neck.

That's the kind of burst I like.

Surprised Fatdawg is still around.

Now, that's what I'm inclined to call a really beautiful bastard! That's one cool mother! Congratulations!
Is the pickup the same as the ones used on some Guild basses in the 60's?

Just realised the Guilds ones were black. Sorry!

It's a very nice burst indeed. I read somewhere recently that Kawai build these bodies for Danelectro.

When I talked to the guy at Subway the other day he said that Fatdawg has some health issues and only comes in about one day a week.

No worries! A buddy did tell me that Hagstrom made the original Guild Bisonic bass pickups. Could be why they looked familiar to you!

I was trying to figure out what Hagstrom bass that neck was originally from and stumbled across a Hagstrom which had the same pickups and knobs.

Love it! I've been watching this one on eBay (I watch tons of stuff that I have no intention of buying).
