Whoever did this, turned the rounded shape of a Studio which was inspired by the more edgy shape of the original TBird back into something more edgy. Full circle so to say - or if you like: full rectangle.

I like that. The pickguard suggests short scale but the headstock says not. What's the story on this one?

It's the shadow of the G string that looks like the edge of the pickguard.
But is a regular shape Thunderbird pickguard.

I’m certainly not up on Tbird minutea , but that looks gorgeous . I was wondering about the chrome bridge with everything else blacked out , but I like it .

Looks too 80ies to me. I'm reminded of Charvel in its early days.

The bass is in Germany, evidently a short run by Gibson? It's clearly a Studio body.

You and me both! The power of suggestion had something to do with it too. It did look like the shorty 'guard...

With EMGs? I doubt it.

You say it's based on a Studio, why not on that short-lived and -scaled TB they did some years back? That was set neck too and hence without a raised center block. Those Thunderdwarfs were nothing to even remotely write home about. But a possible platform for this here.

The bridge is from a Studio though.

 Here's some some shots..... I say it's a Studio.

Me with mine, when I look at how everything sets on the bass, i see a Studio, if it's been modified, I'd say it's very well done. We all know at Gibson the left and right hand often didn't know what the other was doing.

Here's something I didn't know of until two days ago, factory done.
