Ampeg PF-50T
« on: June 22, 2021, 09:16:30 PM »
Picked this up today. It's got the 2-10 cabinet. If I were buying new I probably would have chosen the 15, just to try and stay with the B15 theme, but I got it at a really good price so I'm not gonna complain. The guy had a '78 Tele bass that I used for the demo and I was really impressed. I've wanted a B15 for a while but just couldn't justify the price for one in top shape. I thought this one could be a good compromise. Can't wait to dig in and see if it's a keeper.

Those of us with a bit of grey around the edges can really appreciate the look of that.  Gotta be a great addition.

I have a PF-50T and it is a very good amp. Can actually do small gigs with 2x112 cabs . Imine will never go anywhere. Also from side by side comparison the PF 112 cabs sound more like a B-15n than the PF115's do.

Thanks! Over the last year I've been bitten by amp GAS, which I never really had before. I went through a few amps back when I was starting out (even bought a brand new SVT in 1983; the all black one), but once I settled on a GK800RB I was satisfied for decades. In that time I bought a few SVTs here and there but could never get what I wanted out of them so they went on their way. At the beginning of last year I bought a Super Bassman after reading some glowing reviews and liking how they sounded in clips I saw, but I quickly found it wasn't for me. I found a guy locally who wanted to trade his 2018 SVT classic for a Super Bassman. I figured the SVT would sell easier than the Bassman (which seems to have an avid but small fanbase, as opposed to the SVT which is still popular among many who don't mind humping their gear. The crazy thing is that I loved what I heard when I plugged it in, and then I started missing the B4 I got in a trade a decade ago and sold even though I liked how it sounded. Long story short, here's where I am at the moment:

I'm also expecting a delivery tomorrow with an Ashdown CTM30 Little Stubby that I want to A/B with the PF50-T. If it sounds as good to me as it does in the clip below, I'll just keep them both.

The Little Stubby has certainly intrigued me , as has its cousin with the 550 watt Class D backend . Although the local bars are limited to solo acts for the time being , I usually fire a rig in the car every weekend so I’ve come to love the lightweight stuff . I have a 322 combo but often really only need one cab . We’re not rock band loud .
I went from GK to GenzBenz to Bergantino .
I’ve been lusting after a Monique , so I wouldn’t be too surprised if one eventually comes this way .
