Look, Dave would have posted it anyway ... I just wanted to do him a w(h)op(p)ing favor as his candidate won't win tonight - consolazione so to say! One man's DP is another man's malato d'amore duo! (Or in this case: three piece.)

That's a killer Las Paul-style guitar solo at 01:24

Can't cover Bob Wills without a fiddler.

I've got you following them. How long before you go to see them in person?

Well that was fun! I haven't been keeping up with this thread and hadn't seen her brush work. Clever! And I did not notice that lap steel until he started playing it. They really make it look easy.

Once travel is once again allowed! I'd go see them in a heartbeat, they're cute and play real well. Their style(s) of music are a bit archaic/nostalgia to me, but it is done with so much heart and enthusiasm, you have to love them.

It's a real compliment to this genre of music that folks in other countries play and enjoy it. There is something simple and great about the kind of music involved.

New one. No slap bass this time.

I was beginning to worry you had lost contact with them, Davide Ovestcasa!

Un bel vestito! Navy does her all favors.

She's so petite, I always worry whether she can reach up high enough for the low notes, but so far ... Probably standing on something.

No bambini yet?

I see all their new videos when they post the link on Facebook. I watch the ones in Italian too just to admire what good players they are.

Gig videos show her standing on stage.

It's a big instrument, but you can fold the endpin as much as you need, and it works. The "1st fret" F on the E string should line up with your eyebrow. Francesca's bass looks a little higher than that, but she manages it very well.

My son started on upright at the age of 11, and moved to a full-size bass at 12. My upright bass teacher is 1.50m tall and she kills. It's doable.

They sound quite good, I always enjoy these.

How the heck does upright "slap" work? It looks like she's pulling the strings hard for the 1 and 3, but I can't quite see how she hits the percussive off-beats. Is it the thumb or the palm or the fingers or what? And what do you smack - muted strings? Wood?
