From Kebo: Fender Precision Bass 1953 Blonde Body Only Refin

$8800 for a refin body? I'm just a few bucks short.

I don't get it. Why does he describe everything about the bass and its parts, complete with detail shots of the neck, pickups, and hardware if the body is the only thing for sale?

I believe it's a poorly written ad for a complete, original bass, only the body of which has been refinished.

On that basis, it's priced in line with his other offerings.

That also reads to me like you're getting the whole bass, and only the body has been refinned (though the pickup was potted and they can't guarantee the pots are original).

If I were rolling in dough I might consider it (if his pricing reference is accurate). I bought from Kebo once or twice (seriously, can't remember if it was just a '66 P or one other as well), and he wasn't cheap, but he wasn't out of line, either. And he was totally transparent about everything  that went into the pricing (positive and negative). I've been lusting for a SCPB for a while now, and that one is beautiful.

Kebo almost always ask top dollar, but he's a straight shooter.

He should have left out "Only" in the headline. To me it's obvious he's selling the entire bass when looking at the pictures and reading the description but the headline is way off. I guess what he's trying to say is that it is probably 100% original except for the body refin.

A hyphen would have solved it.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

I agree it's interesting to talk to "Kebo and mention refins.  He immediately waxes how little they ar worth. :)

My mistake.   :-[   Now that I look at it closely, he's definitely selling the whole bass.

If he had just said "refin body" instead of "body only refin" it would have been clear. Maybe that's why it hasn't sold yet. Only reason  I noticed it at all is because it was in a Reverb email.
