A very odd Gibson bass on Reverb..

Carvin and Keisel split in 2015, and Carvin Audio shut down all US production of audio gear with their factory closure in 2017. They're still around, but like most of Peavey, selling overseas made product OEM'ed to their name.

I think Kiesel is quite big in the US? Like a bigger smalll brand? At the NAMM they have quite a big booth and it's always very, very crowded.

It's hard to say, since they only sell online and in their factory showroom.

I can't remember if we did, but I'm aware that Jeff Kiesel has said he'll fight Gibson if they're sued.

I'm not defending Gibson's boneheaded moves, but the younger Keisel matches them with his boneheaded claims there. Paul Stanley was playing a custom built offset V in 1973 (made by Charlie LoBue), so I'm not sure how his dad could have "designed in the mid 80s." Not to mention Randy Rhoads and Grover Jackson's 1981 builds, which added the bevel and had the elongated wing.

I get your points. This is what happens when you hastily use social media to steam off anger. Kiesel did'nt make a revolutionary original design with that offset V, but the actual point I guess they're trying to make is that it is obviously different from the Gibson V.

Exactly. No one is going to mistake it for a Gibson Flying V.

All of the variants - Carvin/Kiesel and the ones George mentions - were inspired by Gibson's Flying V, but inspiration doesn't infringe on Gibson's trademark, not to mention that Gibson's claims to their body shape trademarks are dubious since they were applied for long after copies were on the market.
