So I have this '83 maple-board SQ-series Squier Tele that I love to death. It was their 70's reissue that followed the 82/83 JV series. Today another one arrived from Japan - a '93, Fender decal and rosewood board, but otherwise very similar to my '83. Paid $475. She plays and sounds like a dream... there's something about those MIJ Tele's that really works for me.
