Ok, I take it that you are not a fan of Heidi Stern (aka Jennifer Rush) then either.

To be fair, her vibrato is more controlled though if somewhat ubiquitous.

Not fair!  :) She made coffee/was a secretary at the (then) CBS Studios in Frankfurt in the early 80ies until someone let her go near a microphone. Hard working girl.

But I tired of her voice quickly too and can even today only hear it in small doses.

I never tasted her coffee so I cannot judge her by that, and I'm not a fan of her music.
But she does have something going on, everytime I hear her sing that song I'm taken back to fond 80's memories.
I did hear that whole album in a stretch once (as a grown up) and that was not too pleasant.

Anyone know what this finish is?
Lava burst? Cracked lava?

Custom job? Limited edition for Japanese market perhaps?

I saw a picture of one of those a couple months back. It was on a Japanese dealer site, but can't remember which one.

Probably at Mikki Gakki.
Here's what they wrote about this bass when I asked them:

"This model is the prototype model before commercialization.
It is one of the samples made as a sample, only this one has been on the market.".

Ah, ok. It was the one and same bass then. I thought at the time it was a Japan special run.

That's a nice burst there too.

Anyone post Suicidal Tendencies yet?

And I am remiss for not including local now Geffen-signed, boys Metz:

I saw an RD Artist in a Toronto shop for a really good price . It was in great condition , but it was just too heavy .
It weighed a ton .
I regret not buying it now .

Not just heavy but also very long.  They are a bass for large people.  Makes me look like a twink when I wear it.  That Metz bassplayer is taller then he looks holding that thing.  Somehow Thunderbirds don't have quite the same effect.

I love seeing pictures of myself as a skinny 14 year old with a Grabber :)
