Alrighty,

Since around Christmas, I have a new obsession...lap style guitars...bought a brass bodied resonator guitar in December, bought a dobro in April, and just purchased an electric lap steel.

Need to stop the guitar buying habit.

They are absolutely addictive...and can be very soulful. Not that I need another addiction.

I'd love to learn. Unfortunately I don't have the discipline to do it.

patman

It's been fun.

I imagine pedals, where the tuning is constantly shifting, would require serious discipline...I have always enjoyed watching the pedal steel guy in a good band...

Dave W

Pedal steel guys around here always seem to have all the work they can handle.

Highlander

I use my old SG as a "lap" guitar... works well for me...

patman

Ok...the obsession continues...Monday I saw a Fender double-neck stringmaster from 1960 on Elderly's website...

Looked like about the cleanest I have ever seen, including original tweed case ...and price was ok...

Called my bro who looked at it, and I decided I would go for it...

Will arrive tomorrow...now I will have both a pedal steel and a non-pedal steel in the living room...I am pumped.

Highlander

Pumped... the new name for GAS...?

Congrats but did I miss something? I thought the Stringmasters were console non-pedal steels. Did they come in a pedal version, or have you bought a pedal steel since your earlier posts?

patman

The Stringmaster is a console non-pedal...

Like Ms. Cashdollar...

I have a friend's old Dekley 3 pedal one knee lever, also...he said I could use it as long as I was advancing...
