Should I keep this mongrel?

The separation inside the body is a concern, but if it's repairable (and with your skills, I'm sure you are right in saying it is) then it's not necessarily a big deal.

I really like the idea of coming up with a second neck, either an original via Ebay or the much-esteemed Dr. Bassman brand, and archiving the original neck.

It's unfortunate how inadequate the term "short scale" turned out to be in this case.

Now you have a Mosrite expert on your side. That should help in your dispute.

Doc:

Wish I had a buck or two, I'll bet you or Mike Dolan could make a conversion neck for this. Bound, etc and have it look sharp with a more workable scale for you as well as fix it's little diddy with the wood separation. Mosrite's are kinda like land = God isn't making any more. Whatever you decide I know I can say we all stand behind you here in the post.

Don't lower yourself to "get back at him" he's cheap and your not. Your friend's know this and thats why they (we) are your friends. Make a bass we all will be jealous of and enjoy watching you play.

My two cents.
I can be true to you sweety until I find a nice medium scale with great breasts. ... CW

I'd put heavy guitard strings on it and play it like a tenorbass or something.

I know I'm caught in a revenge rut right now, but I hate it when people lie and take advantage of my good nature.  I know I can cancel the claim any time I want, so I'm still keeping this in the back of my mind.  I actually have already figured out how I can take the current neck, splice  on an extra 5-6" at the heel, put on a new fretboard and refinish/reinstall it.  Tada! A 30" scale with a neck that's 80% original.  I can even save the part of the board that has the serial number and reinstall that.  No big deal.

So goes my conflicted brain.............................. :P

Maybe if he would just admit his duplicity and make some kinds of amends, I'd feel better.  I do however have a strong belief in justice, so that's my own stumbling block.  We'll see............

Very good point.

But I've said enough, Bill already knows what I think of it.
