I can confirm it was an international hit!

It has developed a cultish following.

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Does this still qualify as Bubblegum?

What about him?

But they sure were!

I liked the upbeat, naive quality of Bubblegum and I wasn't alone!

And I always thought that even the cerebral Cars flaunted Bubblegum influences unashamedly:

Transvision Vamp too:

Or Blondie ...

I loved Rubber Ducky. I think my mom bought me the 45 at K Mart in 1970 when I was 6.

And look what became of you, strange meters and all. 😑

Wishbone Ash goes West Coast/Yacht Rock ...

Why no one abducted sweet lil' Laurie and tried to turn him into another Peter Frampton is beyond me. It would have worked.

In its full original glory, the original (partial because of reel change) footage from the night's performance has only now been found in connection with the imminent release of the 50th Anniv Edition of Made in Japan remixed by Steven Wilson. Electric.

The Who live at The Oval 1971. A new release of a historic gig. John is panned hard left in the mix while Pete is panned to the right. Keith is given a glorious stereo spread, which his drums dutifully fill.

Maybe less polished than Live at Leeds, but a great document. John dials in some thick distortion on Pinball Wizard that teeters on the brink of feedback.

This makes me question something I read in an interview of John from way back. Was he always running his basses, including the passive Fenders and Gibsons, with the volume rolled back? Then using it to boost for distorted sections like the end of My Generation?

Cool, I'll have to check this out.

This seems pretty plausible. I always wondered about that since he was never a pedal guy. That P Bass starting to feedback is glorious!

I'm having a hard time getting over the fact that Uwe and Dave haven't posted here in a while. Wonder what they've been up to? Here's to our two favorite mods and wishing them a speedy return  :D

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Uwe posted something I think two weeks ago. About Deep Purple of course.
But it was obviously the wrong forum. So he deleted it within the hour, after he realised this is not The Highway Star... ;D

Too many requests? No problem for the Oscar Peterson Trio.

I did not expect to like this as much as I did.  Young band from NYC.  They're getting a lot of notice from the likes of Nick Cave and Patti Smith.
