The guys at the door at Guitar Center who check everybody must have been on break.

Seriously, no one thought to question him? Or does his drummer work the door?

Also odd that he was in the percussion section

I saw another article in the NY Post which said he had hidden it there.

It's been said that tone is in the fingers, now maybe it's lower than that. I guess it depends on where he plugs it in.

Working in CCTV... kind of odd that a "fixed" camera was moving around so much... if you get my drift...

That's because drummers are kinda slow in picking things up - even a guitar theft.

All of the GC's in my area have stopped checking you at the door. I rarely even see anyone close to the door when I enter and leave. But you do still stand the chance of encountering at least one employee smoking out front. Maybe that is their new "relaxed surveillance" system.

Same here, Andy. One of the two GCs here that I've visited in the last few years does have a repair booth right up by the front door but it's not staffed all the time. They must be relying on security cameras, not that it did them much good in this case.

The Tempe store had the repair guy in the spot by the door, but recently moved him to the other side of the wall where he can't see anyone coming or going. They try to have someone at the front desk next to guitars but if it's very busy they are moving around helping people out. I can see where they could be a bit distracted and if someone like this guy timed it just right, could walk right out with little notice.
