Replacement tuning keys for late-'60s EB-0
« on: November 23, 2016, 06:43:43 PM »

Any recommendations?  Headstock holes are 7/16".

Retaining the originals is not an option since it has none.

I have an al original '69 EB-0 with the original Japanese squared off keys. I'm thinking of swapping them out for some Schaller or Gotoh keys myself. Not worried about modding it up.

Regular Schaller M4's would be good enough IMO and fits 7/16" holes. I don't know about EB-0's but some late 60's solid headstock EB-3's came with those (I own one). I suppose they started using those on the last ones in the transistion period after they redesigned the headstock to split versions. The mounting ear for the screw on the back is positioned differently than original Gibson M4's though.

Schaller M4 or Sperzels would be the way to go for 7/16" headstock holes. AFAIK you won't find any with the exact same screw pattern as the originals.

I ended up going with some original '60s Klusons that I found on eBay for a decent price.  Thanks again for the info.

That's an even better way of ending the story.
