Belated realisation:

LOL - there is a cover of The Doors' Roadhouse Blues (Gillan being The Doors nut he always was) on the album and I'm reading the lyrics for the first time.

Throughout the last five decades I would have sworn I heard how either Jim Morrison or Alan Lancaster (Status Quo) or Eric Bloom (BÖC) all sang

"I should have laid ya, I should have made ya ...
.. give up your vows"

Now I read it's

"Ashen Lady, ashen Lady
Give up your vows"

I'm kinda ashen with disappointment now.  :-\

I've always heard it as "ashen lady"...online references seem to confirm.

It's comforting to know that Uwe's ears can be as misled as mine usually are when trying to decipher lyrics of popular music.

Excepting Sturgill Simpson, who I enjoy but their specialty seems to be TOTALLY incomprehensible mumbling in place of lyrics...so no one can understand them. Much of their stuff is mellow, but this one really (incomprehensibly) rocks.

"A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila."

Here's a much better mashup involving a Johnny Cash song.

And I thought clowns gave you the creeps!

Has that therapy helped then?

They're still creepy. This guy has a good voice though. The clown outfit has gotten him a good sized following on YT. Doubtful that would have happened otherwise.

"This guy has a good voice though."

True.

Nope, thanks, news to me!

Not that I ever waited for Rainbow releases with bated breath. Blackmore's best foil was always Deep Purple to me - with hired hands, he's only half as good due to his competetive spirit (and the self-confidence of the other Purpleites).

Good song and amusing video for a number of reasons.

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

If you like Purple's spoofy vids (the only ones that were ever any good), this is the mother of them all:
