I love these videos, seen a couple before but there a couple operations in this one that I hadn't seen before.  It was great until it got to the "relic-ing" part and the I wanted to  :puke:

The QC department is right next to the department where they build all the 2016 basses.

Yes, I'm not all against relicing but I'd rather not watch someone mess up pristine conditioned instruments on purpose using 18th century nails. I've always taken proper care of my basses, and even if I don't really consider slitting my wrists after creating a new accidental ding to a bass, I'm not very happy either.

Unfortunately, there's customer demand. At least with Gibson the demand nowhere near as high as at Fender. I hate to see it, though.

I wouldn't buy a vintage bass with excessive wear, much less a new one with fake wear.

Wonder when they'll start cranking out basses through there again. Hopefully the guy doing the buffing doesn't short shrift his job of keeping the orange peel from coming through on them when they do.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

There have been a handful of years without basses before, although not recently. They will return, when is the big question considering Gibson's financial obligations.

Before even watching the video I can see the thumbnail showing a warehouse filled to the brim with unsold stock.  That doesn't surprise me at all !

I wonder how many G-Force tuners are in their warehouses.

They're going to start showing up as "free upgrades" on Epis.  ;)

Humbug! That amount of stock in that thumbnail does not look like much. I don't know if you've ever been in a warehouse of a guitar factory or guitar importer, but those kind of amounts easily ship per week. I've been in the Gibson warehouse, Fender warehouse and Ibanez warehouse in the Netherlands. Netherlands is only a small country but the amounts they shipped are certainly larger than the stock in that thumbnail.

Obviously, wages there aren't anymore what they used to be.

I saw another article that said the cases and certificates of authenticity weren't stolen. That may help in recovering the guitars.
