I hope he's not George's neighbor?

If he was I know that George wouldn't complain - he's much too smart for that ;)   I mean the farm was there when these people built their homes and then they whine when the guy cuts his hay field?  How many times a year would you need to cut it? Three maybe four?

The farmer was much more patient than I would have been - I mean he offered cover half of the cost of a fence.  The homeowners should be happy that guy didn't move his manure pile by their houses and just planted a few old cars ;D

This happens more often than you think, it just usually doesn't make national news. It still amazes me that people will move next to a farm or ranch and complain about what's already there. If I were that farmer I wouldn't be accommodating at all.

This is an increasingly common issue. People move to the country and don't bother to think about what goes on in the country. This is also leading to 'right to farm" laws and similar reactions.

If you want to be next to green fields, you also gotta be next to cultivation, spraying, harvesting (with large machines running into the wee hours) and diesel machinery periodically traversing fields.

people complain about the noise after they move next to an airport, too, so it's not surprising at all.

That's true, I live in the flightpath of Sea-Tac (Seattle-Tacoma Int'l Airport) which means large commercial aircraft overhead 24/7/365, my house is sound insulated so it's really not much to get used to even.......Much less complain about.

Then they complain about coyotes, gators, bears & mountain lions-What when I move in animals need to relocate?

Unfortunately they animals end up getting shot. At least the farmer is the one who is armed.

Dave W

Around here there are still some coyotes displaced by subdivision development. People who let their cats roam often find out the hard way.

Here in NJ, people bought and/or built homes near Raceway Park drag strip (not THAT kind, Mark) and have been trying unsuccessfully for years to get it closed down because of the noise.

You've gotta be real careful when you're plantin' Cadillacs. If ya plant 'em too deep they won't grow to full size by harvest time, and if ya plant 'em too shallow they won't grow at all ;)
