Just read the Rolling Stone interview...he is a prickly personality.  Easy to see why there was friction.

Still, Ginger appeared at the Jack Bruce tribute concert last fall. You have to give him credit for that.

I've never subscribed to the theory that it's all the drummer's fault. Ginger got along fine with Clapton. And Jack never had stable line-ups either.
