Danelectro Longhorn adjustable bridge question

I found the standard Dano Longhorn bridge with it's wooden saddle kind of a pain so I ordered an Allparts Danelectro adjustable bridge.

Turns out it is NOT for a Longhorn, at least not a '90s Korean one. Are there any adjustable bridges for the Longhorn available?

Denis, I don't know the answer, but IIRC there were Korean models in the 90s with an adjustable bridge that at least looks like the Allparts one.

Is it a mounting issue? I did find this about how to install the adjustable bridge: http://www.danguitars.com/FAQS.html#Installation_Tips_for_Adjustable/Intonating_Bridge.

What Dave sayid. I think they had the adjustable bridge for a while.

I have the Dead on with the normal bridge. It took me an hour, had to take strings and bridge of twice, but I managed to intonate it quite good. I first did some measurements, calculating aproximately how for the bridge had to move. Got strings and bridge off, tried it and it was almost good. Second time was for the last little tweak. Not easy, but it works.

I have one with an adjustable bridge from Korea...

As I understand it, they are not replacements for each other (i.e. the wooden popsicle stick is not interchangeable with the adjustable bridge)...there is a dedicated website to Danos, where there is a wealth of info...it may be of some help.

I just looked it up..Dan Guitars, and it looks like they're out of business...

The fully adjustable intonatable bridge sounds like the solution, but it comes with a caveat.  It may change the tone for the worse as far as your ears go.  It appears that the rosewood popsickle bridge provides a bit of warmth that is not present with the all-aluminum bridge.

When I was looking for my Korean reissue Longhorn I played a couple with the adjustable/intonatable bridge and there was indeed a difference in tone.  It wasn't my cup of tea but everyone's ears are different.

I wound up with a Korean Longhorn with the popsickle bridge and, as noted above, while they're a PITA to adjust they can be adjusted to achieve intonation on all but the very highest frets.  Ya just gotta wanna.  And have patience.

I always liken Danos to converse All-stars...

Cheap and comfy, but they definitely have quirks...

Bagged the idea of trying to put an adjustable bridge on it. Too much effort and thought to replace something that's worked since the 1950s! I did put LaBella Deep Talkin' flats on it though. Boy, those ends which go through the tuners are SPINDLY little things!

I hope I can get mine to sound as awesome as Billy Bacon's.

I don't know what brand Billy uses, but I've seen him several times and he definitely uses flats. I was close enough to be able to tell by the way they looked when they were vibrating.

Hi Dano sounds terrific, much less like a Dano than I would have expected having watched a bunch of clips of him with it.
On a very positive note, he's been playing again so some of the treatments for his arthritis must be doing him some good. :)
