I've been gigging regularly as a drummer for thirty-nine years and as a hand percussionist for four.

I've filled in on bass for a song here and there, but I've never gigged as THE bassist. That is, not until last night. I played hand percussion and bass last night, had a blast.

I've been working hard to become a serious bassist for about three and a half years. My long term goal was to gig as a hand percussionist and bassist in addition to as a drummer. I can now say that I have.

I have a lot more to learn, I'm purely mediocre on bass at this time. But, I have good time and locked in with the guy who filled in as hand percussionist last night.

And you speak Drummese! Most musicians can't.

Thanks guys.

That was a gig that was already booked before we lost our old bassist. We have too more commitments to fill that we can do as an acoustic duo. Atfer those, we've decided to reconfigure some.

I'm switching to bass in this band full time and pulling in a drummer buddy of mine on drumset. We play mostly folk rock, softer classic rock and some modern rock as it is, I think it will work.

If we still get some acoustic duo gigs, can still cover them with me on congas. But our focus will be on the new configuration.
