I had to smile at this story. In order to exempt Pringles from Britain's 17.5% sales tax, Procter & Gamble had to argue that Pringles aren't really potato chips:

QuoteProcter & Gamble's lawyers claimed at a May hearing that Pringles don't look like a chip, don't feel like a chip, and don't taste like a chip, according to the judgment.

And they won!

Hey, I've been saying that for years.  :)

So pre-chewed theoretical chip products are tax exempt in the UK?

Bonus!

I have a feeling the tax man will be back. If they're not a crisp/chip, maybe they're a biscuit. "Ordinary" biscuits are exempt, but "luxury" biscuits get taxed.

I find them disturbingly addictive.
