What Gibson cases will fir a 1974 Les Paul Signature Bass?

One of mine is in one of those clunky Epi Cassady cases and I've been trying to find a correct case for ages.

I've seen them in both a form fit 70s case and a rectangular case...not sure which was the original.

Any leads?

What's wrong with the Epi case?

It fits an Epi better than the original due to the different neck heights. The fit for a Gibson is soso and strained. The one big structural dif between a JC and a LP Signature is that compared to the body the neck was much lower on the Gibson (which is why you have to have the three point so low on these things that there is hardly any space). It's obviously one of the things Jack C. had improved when they redesigned the bass for Epi.

The Epi case is also rather bulky compared to the correct one besides not quite fitting right.

Mine is in a form fitted, Gibson purple lined case. I tried it in an EB-2 case & also an ES-335 12 string case. They were both about an inch too short for the Les Paul Signature bass.........

I would imagine that the cases for the Memphis produced ES 335 bass should fit well - try getting one though!

Of course the JCS is long scale while the ES is a shorty. Wouldn't that matter?

The currently Memphis-built ES 335 Bass is long scale! (You can tell even from the pics below by how far back to the butt and away from the F-holes the studs are - no innuendo intended!)

Fortunately there will be an EB2 reisse next year. And a F***** Coronado and Starcatser Bass:)

It looks like they'll be putting a pair of Fideli'tron pickups in the reissue.  So it won't sound anything like the original but it will sound good, if the Cabronita Precision is anything to go by.  They seem to have modernised/streamlined it a bit as well - off with the dual thumbrest/tug bar for instance.  I'm definitely keen to at least have a try of one.  However, the Starcaster bass is the one that intrigues me the most - finally appearing 38 years after the prototypes were built.  These are the kind of Fenders that are actually interesting to me - who would have thought it?

The Fidelitrons in a hollowbody may not be far off from the original Rowe DeArmonds. OTOH that may not be a good thing.

An off topic thought on a case for a Les Paul Signature.............. A few years after the SG Standard Bass was introduced, new cases started showing up on ebay. I bought two of them. With a little luck, patients will pay off & 335 & midtown bass cases will start to show up also.

Midtown case won't fit - body compartment too small.
