Could a few of you with current (post-1987) Thunderbirds measure half the scale length for me? I'm curious to know if it's exactly 17" from the inside edge of the nut to the top center of the 12th fret, or if it's slightly less, like 16 7/8" or 16 15/16". More than one to see if they're consistently the same. Thanks.

Dave,

I took a couple shots for you this AM, they're uploaded to photobucket but I can't seem to get the image codes to copy - (not like I haven't done it before! ) so PM me your email and I'll get them to you.

Using a Stanley carpenters tape I measured 16 31/32". The middle of the 12th fret centered between the marks for 16 15/16" and 17" This on my 2013 NR Thunderbird, and exactly the same on my "66 NR.

Mark, I just PMed you.

John, thanks. I suspected it was a smidgen less. I'll explain why later.

Just measured my Studio IV - it's so close to 17" that my eyes can barley make out that it may be 1/64" short of 17"

Thanks, guys. Separate thread about Gibson scale lengths to come as soon as I get a little time.

My 2011 seems to measure 16 15/16".............
