Hilfe!!! Bäsebäll-löving Amerikaners to ze reskue!

A law firm colleague of mine has (he claims) valid ownership title to a "Baseball Card Album" binder full of - pristine - Donruss 1992 baseball cards (all behind pvc etc), called "Major League Baseball Donruss 1992 Edition", almost 3" thick and apparently complete (no missing pics or gaps). He got it when he was still young(er) and under the impression   that it would be cool to have. His lovely Swedish - a country largely unknown for any deeper entrenched baseball tradition - wife has now put him on notice that it's time to grow up and that, no, this will not be going into the new apartment of the two.

Does this thing have any value and if so how much? Should one put it on ebay as a whole or - shock, gasp, horror - part it out (probably too much hassle)?

Any guesstimates appreciated! Ze krauts are tötälly klueless on zis ...

Dang, I don't know if we have someone skilled in that area of interest here.

My thoughts would be that:

1) The collection would be worth more intact.

2) If there's a superstar card in there, the collection would be considerably enhanced, and it seems to me that having that card as part of a full year set would be worth more.

3) Ebay is as good a place as I know of for this kind of sale.

I may be wrong, but my thoughts lead me to conclude that keeping the set intact would maintain its maximum value.

It also strikes me that a good inventory of the cards (possibly including scans of each sheet) would be valuable in terms of marketing it.  A great presentation on Ebay often prompts better bids.

I hope this friend is not involved in Law (oops, sorry... he is) as it's not that hard to research that one, I think... :-\

A complete set of 784 cards, in the box, factory sealed is up for sale now £14.99 BIN.

I think if he values his relationship he could always use them for kindling, and give the impression of how much he truly treasures his relationship...  :vader:

Excellent excuse to replace the wife with a 1992 model.  After she returns his balls, of course.
