I saw the guitar version of this at a store by me, and have been poking around the net to learn more about them. Of course a bass popped up on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gretsch-Committee-Bass-Guitar-70s-Vintage-/181100845346?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a2a739922#ht_237wt_1172

All walnut with maple "stripes". I'm a sucker for the laminated wood neck-thru guitars (as long as the layers aren't from plywood, ha ha) The guitar I tried wasn't particularly heavy so I wonder how much this bass would weigh. Anybody here ever try one of these?

And off-topic, but does the new Photobucket make anybody else want to break things? Jeez what a mess. Good thing it's free...
If it was good enough for Danny Bonaduce, it ought to be good enough for fake bass players everywhere!

I like it! I wonder how they sound.
And yes, the new Photobucket design drives me crazy. Unless all your photos were in folders, they are all on one page and you have to scroll through all of them. I like the old version where there were so many photos on a page and you could flip through the pages.

When these came you they just sat in the display case, you couldn't give them away. As I recall they were heavy! Sort of a interesting collectors piece but I would have to LOVE it to cough up the opening bid. Looks like a high school shop project.

The big problem with the Committee and some other Gretsches of this era (e.g. like the TK300) wasn't the sound, it was that they didn't look anything like Gretsch buyers thought a Gretsch ought to look.

I can remember when it was hard to sell these used for $300, but that was in the mid-90s. The starting bid doesn't look too bad for 2013.

I remember when they introduced those, I thought they were hideous. Some things never change.

I like it a lot, but it does look more like a Guild to me than a Gretsch.

Well I really liked the guitar, it wasn't any heavier than my fake Strat. I do agree about the "But but but it doesn't LOOK like a Gretsch..." Which I don't have a problem with.
I tried to attatch more pictures, but now P-bucket isn't showing more than a dozen of my pictures, as if 90% of them dissapeared. Great.

I can see your whole album, at least whatever part of it is public. Hundreds of pics. Must have been a temporary glitch.
