I watched the movie that won best documentary at this year's Oscars - Searching For Sugarman.  A truly wonderful story and film.

This week I went and bought the two Rodriguez albums on CD - Bob Babbitt is listed as the bass player in the liner notes for the Cold Fact album.

I saw that story a few weeks ago - nice to see him being recognized.

Within the last couple of weeks, I saw an article somewhere that he was taking steps to find out why he never saw a penny of royalties from South Africa despite selling so many records.

That puts me in mind of Seth Mcfarlane's Oscar comment about a movie being so successful that it would be unusually hard for the accountants to prove that it made no money.

Same is done all the time in the recording biz.

In the documentary Clarence Avant was very evasive when questioned about the royalties from South African sales.  Avant is where the money trail ends, I'll bet.

That's the man who was mentioned in the article. IIRC he claims not to know what happened to the money. Or doesn't remember. Yeah, right.
