Going way back...
« on: February 17, 2013, 07:40:09 AM »
to the pit days. this is dreadnaught, the band those two girls stole from and posted the band's music as their own. my main memory of this entire deal was the dreadnaught bassist claiming he had 72 bass overdubs on one track of a song. lunatics abound. :rolleyes

I don't remember the band, the girls or the music-stealing incident, probably because my eyes would have glazed over after seeing the word "prog."

Posting someone else's music as your own is heinous. I still remember a particular incident from 2004 that caused an uproar across several forums, and being appalled at how many people were willing to forgive the thief when he issued a half-hearted non-apology -- never mind that he tried to destroy the reputation of the person he stole from.

I'm not going to name any bands, but what I've found is that all too often fans of a band will forgive their favorite band(s) of stealing music.  Somehow because they think the band is so good and they like the music so much, that it's okay.  I find this deplorable and unforgivable.  Stealing music is never okay under any conditions.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

Treena was the woman who claimed a number of pictures of others' basses were hers. She got caught when Kevin Borden posted a pic of one of his basses on his backyard deck and she said it was hers. I think she may have done that with one of Aussie Mark's basses too. She also claimed to own a 1957 Rick bass. She had a couple of pics of herself with it, it was actually a 1961, but after everything else that went down with her, I don't believe she ever actually owned it. Her husband had a small recording studio, she represented herself as a serious recording expert but I don't think she had anything to do with it.

What happened to Clutter? That was one of the Dude's late loves too.

No, doesn't ring a bell, but I could have missed it, especially when the place got so big.
