Grasshoppers/locusts don't taste bad at all. There is a universal rule that the stranger something looks, the less a peculiar taste it has. If you look ugly there is no evolutionary reason to taste bad.

The difference between eating a lobster or a shrimp or a mussle/clam and an insect is indeed of minor nature, it's all cultural.

A friend of mine used to eat bizzar-o stuff like this all the time. I''ve actually eaten one of the bug lollipop thingys, it wasn't THAT bad. THose and "Gar-lix" (garlic flavored lollipops) were his favorites. Ick.
If it was good enough for Danny Bonaduce, it ought to be good enough for fake bass players everywhere!

When I was a kid, I played with grasshoppers all the time, and not sadistically. One day, one bit me, so I bit back. It tasted kind of sour like the residue from green tobacco leaves. I wouldn't hesitate to eat cooked ones.
