We already discussed the Investor’s Business Daily editorial here: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=8077.0

IMHO this Daily Caller article just rehashes the falsehoods in the IBD editorial and rehashes what happened two years ago.

It amazes me how this situation suddenly made experts out of people who wouldn't know an exotic fingerboard blank from a hole in the ground -- and still don't.

The same goes for politics.  I see people almost every day who think they're the world's leading experts on politics, when, in fact, they don't know Jack Squat.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

So - let me get this right - because of the IRS investigations, NOW the Investors Biz Daily has decided to go back and re-consider the Gibson incident as being caused by "...the abuse of power by the Obama administration to intimidate those on its enemies list...”

I also note that The Daily Caller seems to be closely connected to Fox News.

Methinks there is a secondary motivation at work here.

Is Gibson even a "conservative" institution anyway?

Heck, I don't know.  But it does make a convenient opportunity for someone who sees conspiracy to advance an empty accusation.

I'm far more annoyed by the fact that an article on Gibson features a photo of what looks like Jerry Garcia and his ugly-assed Alembic.

Heck, I don't know.  But it does make a convenient opportunity for someone who sees conspiracy to advance an empty accusation.

Henry and the company donated small amounts to both Republican and Democratic candidates prior to the raid. Afterwards, Henry used partisan anti-administration sources to push his agenda. Of course, they were happy to help, and I have no problem with partisans being partisan. The problem is that they just accepted his version at face value because they didn't understand anything about the wood situation. Henry played them for suckers, and articles like this show that he still is.

Martin is not a liberal institution either, and AFAIK no major guitar maker is really involved in party politics. These donations are strictly small potatoes.

Martin and others made it clear after the raid that they had already heeded advisories and had stopped importing the woods from India. Henry didn't, took a big risk, then cried foul when he got caught. Let's also not forget that Luthiers Mercantile, a German-owned company not connected to American politics, acted as the middleman here. They were raided too.
