Hey folks - has anyone had experience with the Palatino electric uprights?  I have the itch to get something to replace my lost King upright, but would like to find an affordable option that requires less room to pack around....

I have never played one...there is a huge thread on these in the talkbass upright section.  Some good...some not so good...

I am curious myself, but have never gotten my hands on one.

I was thinking of taking the plunge a few year back, and was looking at the Zeta Crossover bass.

I tried a Palatino briefly at Bass NW while in Seattle for the WSU-Oregon State game.  Not bad, and I liked the sound.  I didn't like the metal brace that serves as a standoff for the instrument.  They mentioned that changing the factory strings is really important to get the best sound out of the instrument.  I found that playing the Palatino was easier on the fingers than an upright, possibly because the action was lower than most uprights.
