If you listen to their first record, its more blues based and Dusty smokes on it. He just went more & more minimal as his beard grew and his basses got fuzzier.

dusty hill, the anti wanker. imo he plays bass the way it was intended. fat sound, simple patterns and groove. a real support player.

bump. i want to hear other opinions on this, please.

I'm an anti-wanker and often decline requests to solo, although I try to add a tasteful run here and there.  I like a fat, round sound and try to make my parts compliment the song to the best of my ability.  having said that, I can appreciate those who can pull off the wanker role, but it's just not my style of playing.

I'm anti-wanker too, I keep it uncomplicated but not necessarily minimalist. All depends on the structure of the song.

Music is about emotional communication, not technical expertise.

Dave, those guys are not The Boyzz. The Boyzz are from Illinois and they rock>

Dan Buck can bite me.  In the '80s, we talked with him, and it was decided (or so it seemed) that he would join our band as a sort of collaborative effort.  A few weeks into rehearsals, it became pretty clear that he decided that we were his backup band.  The fact that I had been band leader, and had some ideas on where we should go, didn't sit well with him.  He wanted a robot bass player that sat on the root note a lot.  With that, I was fired from my own band, without my even knowing about it.  The keyboard player decided to call me and let me know a couple days later.  2 months later, Dirty Dan and the Trash band were no more.  It was an abortion from the word "Go".

The nice Catholic schoolgirls were at least as much fun as the bad ones. Or at least I remember it that way.

I married one!     I've spent the last 10 years trying to work out if she's good or bad.  When she's good she's good. When she's bad...etc etc   ;D
