The great folks from the Great White North send us Red Green via PBS.  You know it's good when the wife says, "That's not funny, why do you watch it?"  Duh!

I still enjoy watching the reruns. The rapport between Steve Smith and Pat McKenna was great.

My favorite recurring bit was the Possum Lodge Word Game. You knew what was going to happen in the end but that made it all the funnier.

I still watch SCTV bits on youtube.  Their Half Wits was so great, the brain-dead writers at SNL still do it.  Kids In The Hall were fantastic.  This Hour Has 22 Minutes was great, and The Newsroom was incredible dry humor.  Red Green is an enigma to me, as I don't dig cornpone humor. I also never got into RCAFarce.  But on the whole, Canucks rock the comedy.

Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Living up near the border I used to watch a steady stream of CBC.  Red Green and North of Sixty were my favorites and, of course, Canadian hockey with Don Cherry is far superior to the anemic American version.  My kids grew up with Mr. Dressup (not as perverted as it sounds) and let's not forget the extra strength Bradors for the adults.

As a child, I learned about duct tape from Red Green.  I couldn't wait to get my first job so I could buy rolls of the stuff.
Hockey sticks, baseball bats, brothers, anything that needed some fixin', etc.  The stuff is magic.
I remember an episode where they duct taped two halves of a car together and drove off in it.

.... and let's not forget Canada's contribution to cuisine - "Poutine", which has become a Canadian cultural icon and is essentially a heart-attack in bowl (FREAKIN' yummy though):

Really funny bit at the bottom of the Wikipedia entry under "Poutine in politics" where they talk about This Hour and the Rick Mercer Report (a spin off).

....... don't even get me started on Beaver Tails.

I love Red Green!  A former co-worker was such a huge fan, that he can be seen at the end of one of the shows as one of the lodge members.

Let's not forget The Frantics and their boot-to-the-head routines.

Rick Green of The Frantics was the co-creator of the Red Green show and also played the Bill Smith character who appeared in the silent black-and-white film clips.

Remember the lesson of Ed Gruberman!

Red Green has made me laugh to the point of tears more times than I can count. I start laughing every time his nephew walks in the door. All I have to do is look at that guy and I lose it ;D.

As I recall, they actually make those machines he features on the show.  I need to find out if PBS is running his show here at any point during the week.

I love Red Green...I don't think it plays here anymore, unfortunately.

Nocturnal

It still shows on the weekend here. I think on Sat. nite. My dad loves this show. It was justification for all of his years of duct tape abuse.
