A truly great bass player is gone! Wasn't it him who also laid the bottom for Midnight hour and Dock of the bay, where he got the bass to sound like rolling waves? RIP.

I'm thinking of those first notes - G-D - in the opening, where the D part kind of slides. Think it's that, in combination with that other "blowing" sound, that creates the vision of waves.
