i like these guys a lot. not everyone's cup of tea but so what. new yorker magazine even had a nice comment about them. from what i have read the bass rig is rated at around 5,500 watts. it's hard to make out in the dvd what he uses but it looks like solid state ampeg heads and a mish mash of different cabs, mainly 10's.

Lightning Bolt are a sweet band.

Another band you might want to check out it Noxagt. Not really similar to Lightning bolt other than both being heavy, but their bass player has a pretty big sound too. Their most recent self titled record is what I recommend.
