RIP Jerry Jones Guitar Company
« on: June 24, 2011, 06:55:43 AM »
I'm really glad I have that JJ Longhorn now.

http://www.jerryjonesguitars.com/

From the website...

"Nashville Factory Closed!
Hello,
Jerry Jones is retiring and the Nashville factory is now closed. If you are interested, there may still be a few instruments available though the dealers on our "Dealers" page that are noted with an asterisk (*)
Thanks....."

Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?

Wow, that's a surprise. Can't blame him, he's had a good run and deserves to retire if he wants to.

Will anyone step in and fill the void? Jerry stood up to Evets Corporation, which bought the Danelectro name, because he was already making guitars when they reintroduced Danos. Anyone new would probably have to have the bucks to fight litigation.

I absolutely do not blame him for retiring. I can't confirm, but got the impression, that the company had at most a handful of people, maybe only a couple.

I'd love for someone to step in and build quality Dano-like guitars in the US but I imagine it would be an expensive venture and his shoes would be difficult to fill.

Did an internet search and came up with an auction company's site listing all Jerry Jones assets. He had some nice damn equipment!

I'd love to have scored some of the remaining lipstick tube pickups and the winding machine to make them.

Damn! He wasn't big, but it looks like he must have had more than a one or two man shop. Some nice machinery there.

Ken, that big Fadal CNC would look right at home in your shed. Get your wallet out.
