So I finally got this new thing off the ground. Band is called Afterglow. Format is a lot of current dance pop hits along with some retro favs that you kind of have to do in cover band land. But NO Jessie's Girl or Bon Jovi! Don't worry, we have some equally bad stuff in their place.  ;) I gotta tell ya, this dance stuff is no walk in the park. It's a lot more work than banging out Zeppelin and GnR covers. LAYERS of keyboards and vocals to sift through, sort out, and distribute among band members. We don't use any backing tracks. We're actually chopping up and medley-izing a lot of the stuff. I'm using a LOT of octave divider, and a cool synth effect on my Digitech Bass Synth Wah pedal. We're adding a lot of fire to the songs, but not really metal-izing them. It's a fun challenge, but again, a lot of work. We've been getting some great opportunities thanks to our booking agent. First show was at the end of January, and we have 7 shows in April.  ;D As Denis said - wish me luck! Web site is up. There are a few bugs, but it's close.... Facebook too.

Tom,

First, Good Luck in the new band it loks like a lot of fun - as it should be!

I'd enjoy an explaination of you signal chain for the octave divider/synth effect, my band would like to do some music that could use that sound. I'm not quite finding it with my Line6 pedal.

It may be a bit much, but here goes...

X2 wireless receiver>Sadowsky preamp(side chain to Boss tuner)>EBS octave divider>Digitech synth wah>HBE Hematoma overdrive>Boss bass chorus>Aphex Punch Factory compressor (also serves as DI to our splitter snake which sends one whip to our monitor board/in-ears, and one whip to FOH guys snake). Listen to "Blow" by Ke$ha and you'll hear exactly what the synth pedal sounds like. It's also a very good envelope filter, octave divider, and envelope/octave combo depending on which mode you select.

Very cool. What was the black bass in the promo shot gallery, your Ric?

Nice to see so many shot with your LP. Looks nice.

Cool, good luck! Sounds like you will have your hands full with this one!
Why did Salvador Dali cross the road?
Clocks.

This is my black Ric. Took the Bachbird as my "alternate" last night, but it's going to be back to the Paul next week.

Very nice.  We are playing at the Killeen Tilted Kilt on Thursday the 21st.  Never been to one but it appears to be a Hooters with girls in Kilts.   ;D
