Looking for a (pre '97) 4003/4001 template/tracing

if you want a close appoximation, of any bass, find a full, straight on picture of what you want and use an oversize scanner/copier to blow it up to the correct dimension.  All you need is at least one known measurement to compare to.  A little trial and errorr and you're in business.  I've used this for several projects and it will get you very close.  Most print/copy shops will have these devices.

you meen your've made those?  stunning work mate.

While I do make a lot of custom guitars and bass instruments, I only restored the Fireglo 1999 and the MontyBrown 4001.  Both of these were refretted and refinished.
The other one was a genuine 3001 Rick neck from 1974 that I made the 330 style body for then did a Burgandyglo nitro finish.  It was built for a fellow who 1/2 way through the project was diagnosed with cancer and had to cancel the project.
Here's a simple 330 that I took on and did double binding on the body and neck, replaced the dots markers with crushed pearl inlays, then a refret and did a lovely BlueBoy finish.  I also made the Gold Guards.


How about a modern LightShow 331 made using LEDs and ICs.

Very nice!  I'll bet that light show doesn't heat up at all like the original ones did!

It does not even get warm.  The originals used 12 volt automotive light bulbs and they built up quite a bit of heat inside the guitar body after about 5 minutes.
Here's a picture before the diffusion lenses and .125 clear plastic goes on the face of the 330, this shows the electronics and the LEDs mounted on mirrored plastic.

You know Jeff, my wife and I are thinking about moving somewhere near the U.P.
It depends on the house and size of property we can afford.  We'd like a 1910 through 1930 bungalow type older home in good condition.
